Growth of Google+

Growth of Google+

Social Media has become the connecting link for relationships, business, and individuals. This is a big race amongst social media giants such as:

• Facebook
• Linkedin
• Twitter
• Google Plus – G+
• Tumblr

Google+ was slow to join the race but the pace increased steadily. The sudden exclamation from Larry Page of Google+ crossing 100 million user marks, made a few heads turn. This came as a blow to the Wall Street journal calling Google+ a ghost town in February. The turning point is the moment Google+ visitors and new registration showed a 43.1% increase. The list below gives the comparative statement of the actual in millions.

Facebook 158.6 (+1.0%)
Youtube 153.8 (+0.75%)
Twitter 42.6 (+0.9%)
Google+ 31.9 (+43.1%)
Linkedin 24.6 (-6.5%)
Tumblr 21.6 (+0.1%)
Pinterest 19.4 (+0.4%)
Myspace 21. 9 (-8.0%)

This indicates a steady 43.1% increase. The astounding fact these users were from US. The users were primarily desktop users. Complete statistics declared that Google+ is now larger than Linkedin.

Vic Gundotra was beaming with pride when he announced that Google+ mobile traffic is larger than the desktop traffic. The announcement was made during the Google I/O conference in June 2012.

The App interactivity satisfies the mobile users more than enough. A mobile experience that brings back users is sure worth the adulation.

Susan Wojocicki, Senior Vice President Advertising stated that “We are pleased”. This was at the birthday anniversary of Google. The advantage over the other Social Media is that Google+ acts as the ‘Social Spine’ connecting its other featured products.

To list a few of Google’s featured products:

• Gmail – Email engine
• Youtube – Video blogging
• Picassa – photo sharing
• Blogger – blogging
• Drive – Your virtual storage unit

This was the greatest hit with Google. To gain access to these, all you need to have is a simple Google account. Added to the success, Google account is now open to interface your Klout account. This has made another impact with the Klout users willing to socialize with a professional network. The comparison of Google+ to the other active social media networks is done by the press and media. Vic Gundotra had stated earlier that “This is just the next version of Google.” Google has never claimed that Google+ is a social network. Google’s 43% increased users within a short period of time among the other populated SM networks is certainly colossal.
