Fundamental #2: Love One Another
Fundamental #2: Love One Another.
Fundamental 2 of the fundamental 5 for humanity is Love One Another.
After you gather together, you can focus on love. Yes, like one another but also love. There is something wonderful that happens when we move past tolerance, politeness, basic coexistence and step into genuine love for one another. The world shifts. Hearts open. Humanity remembers what it was always meant to be.
In the wake of the tragic shootings on December 13th, 2025 at a Hanukkah celebration on Sydney’s Bondi Beach and on the other side of the world at Brown University, Rhode Island, we must remember this fundamental truth more than ever. When violence seeks to divide us, love must unite us. When hatred tries to silence us, love must speak louder. When fear threatens to isolate us, love calls us to gather closer. When darkness descends, love is the light we carry forward. These moments of unspeakable pain remind us that love is not passive. It is not weak. It is not optional. Love is the most powerful force we have to heal what has been broken, to protect what is sacred, and to build the world our children deserve. Love one another is not just a sentiment. It is our survival. It is our strength. It is our sacred duty.
When we choose to truly love one another, something profound unfolds.
Compassion deepens. The judgment you held dissolves the moment you see someone’s struggle as your own. Understanding replaces criticism.
Connection multiplies. Acts of kindness ripple outward in ways we cannot predict. One gesture of love creates a chain reaction that touches lives we will never meet.
Division heals. The walls we built between “us” and “them” crumble when we lead with love. Common ground appears where we once saw only difference.
Legacy takes root. The love you give today plants seeds that grow for generations. Your children, your community, your world all transformed by the choice to love.
And then there is the moment that matters most. The moment you realize that loving one another is not just a nice idea or a spiritual platitude. It is the foundation of every meaningful relationship, every thriving community, every lasting legacy worth building.
Remember and action on this as we gather together with family and friends this holiday season, a time to practice love in action.
Love one another
the oldest wisdom, the simplest truth, softly spoken.
Open hands answering the world’s sharp edges,
the heart remembering what the mind forgets across distance and doubt.
Love one another, and begin again.
Love one another is repeated in the lyrics from Love is the Answer (England Dan & John Ford Coley) released in 1979 on their album Dr. Heckle & Mr. Jive. England Dan & John Ford Coley’s Love Is the Answer emphasizes warm harmonies, clear melody, and polished soft-rock arrangement, while Todd Rundgren’s version feels more restrained and introspective, making the cover sound fuller and more uplifting. Todd Rundgren originally wrote and performed “Love Is the Answer” with his band Utopia for their 1977 album Oops!
And when you feel afraid (Love one another)
When you’ve lost your way (Love one another)
And when you’re all alone (Love one another)
And when you’re far from home (Love one another)
And when you’re down and out (Love one another)
And when your hopes run out (Love one another)
And when you need a friend (Love one another)
And when you’re near the end (Love) (We’ve got to love)
(We’ve got to love one another)
Light of the world, shine on me
Love is the answer
