If I Can Dream

Song by Elvis Presley

There must be lights burning brighter somewhere
Got to be birds flying higher in a sky more blue
If I can dream of a better land
Where all my brothers walk hand in hand
Tell me why, oh why, oh why can’t my dream come true
Oh why

There must be peace and understanding sometime
Strong winds of promise that will blow away the doubt and fear
If I can dream of a warmer sun
Where hope keeps shining on everyone
Tell me why, oh why, oh why won’t that sun appear

We’re lost in a cloud
With too much rain
We’re trapped in a world
That’s troubled with pain
But as long as a man
Has the strength to dream
He can redeem his soul and fly

Deep in my heart there’s a trembling question
Still I am sure that the answer, answer’s gonna come somehow
Out there in the dark, there’s a beckoning candle, yeah
And while I can think, while I can talk
While I can stand, while I can walk
While I can dream
Oh, please let my dream
Come true
Right now
Let it come true right now
Oh yeah

His influence extended beyond just music as he appeared in several films throughout this period as well. Both his music and films continued to be popular even after his death in 1977, proving that Elvis is the definitive Legacy Worthy King of Rock and Roll who has truly left behind a lasting legacy on popular culture.

Elvis Presley’s musical legacy is one of immense proportion. He brought a unique blend of styles to the music world, combining elements of blues, country, gospel, and pop music. His contributions to these genres helped shape their sound and paved the way for other artists.

From 1950 onward, Elvis began creating songs that pushed the boundaries of genre and style. His cover of ‘That’s Alright Mama’ was widely acclaimed for its crossover appeal – it combined elements of both blues and country music into one song. Furthermore, Elvis also used his natural vocal range to great effect – his high pitch and vibrato gave his songs an energy that was distinct from all other performers at the time.

He blended different music genres together and wrote many iconic songs in each genre he touched. Elvis’ gospel hits like ‘Peace in the Valley’ and ‘How Great Thou Art’ have been covered by countless contemporary artists due to their timelessness and relevance in today’s society.
