Likes UP: Facebook Timeline Mandatory Update on December 21, 2011

=> Facebook Timeline is now available for ALL users. Timeline *replaces* your personal Facebook profile as you know it now. You have 7 days to review all your past content and make changes (edit privacy settings, delete old content you don’t want visible anymore, etc.).
You can turn on your Timeline anytime in these next 7 days. Go here: https://www.facebook.com/about/timeline and click “Get it now.” Or, you’ll see an announcement at the top of your profile. On December 21st, if you have not yet enabled your own Timeline, Facebook will turn it on automatically. You cannot get back your old profile; it’s a mandatory change sitewide.
Some of the main differences are the large “cover” photo at the top. And, your “wall” is split in two with a line down the middle – click anywhere on the line to go back in time and add new content (if you really want to!). You can always easily check the visibility of *any* content by the little icon: a globe means PUBLIC – anyone can see it. The little icon with two people means that content can only be seen by FRIENDS. And a little gear icon means you have set the visibility to custom (such as specific people/friend lists). NOTE: you can go back in time and retroactively *change* the visibility of any of your posts.
You’ll also notice that your photos appear cropped at the top and bottom on your Timeline; you can click hover over any post/photo and click the star to feature it on your Timeline which means it takes up both columns. But, still, the photo will be cropped. 🙁 Clicking on the photo of course pops it up in the lightbox for full viewing. For your cover photo at the top, you may see it only half height on your profile and other profiles; just click the image and it expands.
