Creativity and it’s “result” – which is innovation – is key to success in business… and with money.

While most people want to be more creative, the paradox is that most people don’t know exactly what creativity IS.

To start with, creativity has a “root.” The root of the word creativity is the word CREATE.

Creativity isn’t about coming up with lots of ideas that distract you. It’s about putting things together in new ways with the objective of actually CREATING something.

When your aim is to ultimately do something new and different in the real world, your creativity happens differently.

Another important distinction when working to become more creative is to know the difference between creativity that’s “in response” to a situation – and creativity that is “pro-active”… or about creating something that is essentially new.

“Reactive Creativity” – as I call it – also goes by another name: “The Mother Of Invention.” Reactive creativity is about NECESSITY. You have to respond, because a problem is banging on your door.

But this isn’t the type of creativity that usually results in big success in your life.

I actually don’t think that necessity is the mother of invention. I think that necessity is the mother of FIXING.

Most of us don’t dedicate time on a regular basis to “Proactive Creativity” – to setting aside everything we’re doing… to turning off the phone, computer and other distractions…

and letting our minds deliberately wander into the world of possibility.

And if we do actually do this, we don’t know the actual “mental methods” to discover and create highly valuable innovations that will be worth a lot to us and others.

It turns out that there are TOOLS you can use to dramatically increase your creativity – and the value of the innovations that you create.

Here’s one of Eben Pagan’s favorite creativity tools:

>>>Try This Exercise<<<

1) Close your eyes, and then take 5 slow, very deep breaths – down deep in your belly. Feel your breath coming in and going out as you take them.

With each breath, relax your forehead, jaw, shoulders, back, legs…

2) Pause at the end of the 5 breaths, and rest without breathing for 15-20 seconds. Just stay focused on the feeling in your relaxing body…

3) Start breathing normally again, and keep your eyes closed. Now make a picture in your mind of what you’d like your life to look like in one year – in some important area. Maybe it’s time to get your health in better condition, or you’d like to increase your income. Imagine the outcome you want vividly.

4) Now ask yourself the question: “What would I have to put in place so that the result and outcome I want is guaranteed?” The key to this is asking your mind to come up with a condition that would literally make the outcome you want INEVITABLE.

5) Come up with at least 3 different conditions you could put in place that would make the outcome you want HAPPEN. Write them down.

If you did this exercise, you probably realized something important: You realized that you have the power to actually make sure you get what you want in the future.

It just requires that you do something “upstream” to make SURE it happens.

How often do you invest time proactively coming up with exactly what to put in place in your life “upstream” so that you create the life that you want for yourself?
