Group Administrator can change the cover image of a group to look similar to a cover image on a timeline. If cover image has been added, member photos display under Group Info. on right (with a new group photo)

The changes to groups on Facebook seem more aesthetic than functional. Group activity and post popularity dictates what displays at the top of a group page.
If there is no group photo (use 800 x 170 for best fit per Mari Smith), the profile photo of the person/people who have posted most recently will display in the image header. These images link to the individual profile of the group member.
