Klout is now kaput.

Effective, May 25, 2018, Lithium.com has sunset the Klout service and its website and service are now closed.

Back in November, I wrote about Klout Thought Leader

Thought Leader is one of the levels of influence on Klout.  The next level up is “Klout Broadcaster.”

Klout was founded in 2008 to help you measure and leverage your influence. Klout believes influence is the ability to drive action. For example, Oprah’s opinion on literature has inspired millions to read titles from her book club. But you don’t have to be Oprah to have influence. You influence your friend when she listens to a song you recommend on Facebook. You influence your coworker when he checks out an article you posted on LinkedIn and shares it with someone else. Social actions like these are a reflection of influence.

Influence, and the popular book on Influence (see Likes UP: The Liking Authority on Cialdini’s Influence) includes the principles of Liking and Authority.

Klout, since it is a digital medium, focuses on recommendations, shared links, and likes up on Facebook, Amazon, YouTube and more and of course, +1 on Google search, websites with +1 icon, and Google Plus.

Klohttp://klout.com/SherrieRoseut Broadcaster definition is:  You broadcast great content that spreads like wildfire. You are an essential information source in your industry. You have a large and diverse audience that values your content.

Klout provide you with insights to help you better understand your own influence:

  • Do others trust your opinions online?
  • What Klout topics are you the most influential on?

You may notice orange +K buttons across the Klout website. This icons similar to the +1 on Google Plus are your LIKES UP approval and recognition.  Giving someone a +K is a great way to acknowledge that someone has influenced you.
