The image in this Likes UP blog post is from a social media mag. The article is behind the times because it does not include Google+. Dave wrote a good book entitled, “Likeable Social Media: How to Delight Your Customers, Create an Irresistible, and be Generally Amazing on Facebook and other Social Networks. He mentioned Twitter, Linked In but not Google+.

When you are looking for something, Google is the place to start. The results show both organic links and descriptions and paid advertising. Alongside the results are +1 icons.

What if you went to Facebook and searched for the same thing?

You may find entries with “friends” to like the subject you are searching. Is that social proof of a recommendation?

Now with Google Plus the +1 button seems to have a similar impact as the like button. Whatever is likeable can receive a social media “click” and the numbers of likes and +1’s increment up and up and up. That’s likes up!

Yes, we all like to do business with people we know, like and trust. Google owns search and with Google Business Pages just coming out of infancy, the liking aspect with +1 will give Facebook Likes a challenge.
