"New Twitter profiles for everyone" Twitter officially switches all accounts

Likes UP: “New Twitter profiles for everyone” Twitter officially switches all accounts ON!

Twitter has officially switched every account to the enhanced profile a few days ago for your early Christmas present.

While you are in adding your profile header image, you’ll also want to check a few other settings. If you have more than one Twitter account ( @LikesUP, @SherrieRose, @TheWebinarWay ) this will take some time so be aware of these two important areas that should be reviewed and updated.

1) Email notifications – New fields have been added and they are automatically checked on (remember to save changes after updating).

2) Account: Twitter Personalization  – Automatically checked “ON” to track

While you have Do Not Track turned on, your visits to sites that feature Twitter are not available to personalize your experience

How to become a Twitter Jedi master

via Mark Luckie (Manager of Journalism & News @Twitter) and Steve Rubel writing in a LinkedIn article:

  1. Live tweet your beat – Tweet in your sweet spot. And look for events in particular to tweet around. This can help your content become more discoverable. This is especially true when coupled with the next couple of tactics. (If you’re not a journalist, your beat is your expertise!)
  2. Engage in conversation – Use @ handles to engage others but also occasionally do so in ways that exposes the tweet to a larger audience by using a period before the handle – like .@steverubel or.@likesup
  3. Use hashtags – This alone can boost engagement on your tweets by up to 50%. The key is to use simple, natural language. I often don’t include basic hashtags like #media or #journalism in order to to save space – but I am rethinking that after meeting Mark. Do so around your “beat” as well. #likesup
  4. Share other people’s content via retweets – Use Twitter’s advanced search tools to identify influencers, hashtags and photos around your expertise/beat. This can drive your exposure among TV journalists who are always looking for new talking heads.
  5. Use photos and videos – Tweets with visual assets see four to seven times the engagement vs those that are just text. Use them.

You can also pin a Tweet (top of your profile timeline). Manage your pinned Tweets from the advertiser campaign dashboard.
