Facebook Offers are a hot topic

“Certain businesses, brands and organizations can share discounts with their customers by posting an offer on their Facebook Page. Offers are like coupons and don’t cost anything to create.”

Offers are only available on some pages – those with managed accounts (i.e. with big FB ad budgets!): https://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=376886339005158.

FB is working on expanding Offers to be available to more businesses. Offers are probably monetized with ads and sponsored stories.  Offers can be pinned to the top of a Facebook page.

=>Ultimately, Timeline for pages benefits Facebook, not the brand. Timeline for pages forces companies and brands to be “social”  and update frequently with more audience engagement. The idea is to keep the activity on Facebook (that’s what the IPO needs: active users to see Facebook ads)
